Pets are great companionship for senior citizens. However, consider getting an older animal from a shelter rather than a puppy. Many older animals are in greater need of a home as young families want a puppy. Call your local Humane Society to see if they have a program for senior citizens - many of them have special programs to pair seniors with pets!!
